A straightforward guide to the QED Performance QE6033 HDMI 2.1 cable, covering its specs, real-world performance for PS5 and Xbox Series X, and key decision rules for 4K 120Hz and 8K gaming.
Quick answer
The QED Performance QE6033 is a certified Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 cable that fully supports 4K at 120Hz, 8K at 60Hz, and all HDMI 2.1 features — making it a reliable choice for PS5, Xbox Series X, and high-end home theater setups.
Why HDMI 2.1 matters for next-gen gaming
HDMI 2.1 enables higher bandwidth (48 Gbps) compared to older standards, which is essential for 4K gaming at 120 frames per second or 8K at 60 fps. Without a certified cable, you may experience screen flickering, reduced resolution, or signal dropouts.
Trade-off: price vs. performance
At around USD 33 (catalog comparison price USD 44.95), the QED Performance QE6033 is more expensive than generic HDMI 2.1 cables. However, its certified Ultra High Speed rating ensures consistent signal integrity over longer runs (3m included), which is critical for high-bandwidth gaming and movie content. If you only need a short cable for a budget 4K TV, a cheaper alternative may suffice.
Decision rules for buying an HDMI 2.1 cable
- Check your device's HDMI version: Only buy an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable if your source (PS5, Xbox Series X, high-end GPU) and display (TV or monitor) both support HDMI 2.1. Otherwise, a High Speed cable is sufficient and cheaper. Confirm both source and display support HDMI 2.1 before purchasing.
- Match cable length to your setup: Longer cables (over 5m) may require active or optical HDMI 2.1 cables to maintain signal quality. The QED Performance QE6033 is 3m, which is ideal for most console-to-TV distances without needing an extender. Measure your exact distance; for runs over 5m, consider active cables.
- Look for certified Ultra High Speed HDMI: A certified cable (like this QED model) has passed testing for 48 Gbps bandwidth, ensuring reliable 4K 120Hz and 8K 60Hz performance. Non-certified cables may work but risk intermittent issues. Certification is the best guarantee of performance; avoid uncertified bargain cables for high-end use.
